Dak Prescott will be happy with Zack Martin’s update

Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot and the Dallas Cowboys received good news update Monday after star right-wing goaltender Zack Martin was removed from the reserved / COVID-19 roster.

However, as Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated noted, this came with bad news as Randy Gregory replaced Martin on the COVID-19 list. In addition, wide receiver Michael Gallup was placed on injury reserve due to calf strain he suffered during the second half of the Cowboys’ season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While developments on Gregory and Gallup’s status are disappointing, the Cowboys will be happy Zack Martin is back. Six-time Pro Bowler, the 30-year veteran is a crucial part of Dallas’ offensive line.

The Cowboys have been sorely missed by Martin against the Buccaneers, and his return in time for Week 2 is critical following the suspension of right tackle La’el Collins for drug abuse violations.

Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot are set to benefit the most from Martin’s return. Hopefully the team can bounce back from their 31-29 loss to Tom Brady and Co in Week 1. The Cowboys face the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium this Sunday.

As for Gregory, he could still make it through week 2 if he produces two negative tests within 24 hours. As ESPN reported, the veteran defensive end is asymptomatic and vaccinated. Meanwhile, Gallup could be out for the next three to five weeks.
