The Union government told the Supreme Court on Monday that it did not intend to file a detailed affidavit into Pegasus’ alleged spy row citing security concerns. Representing the Center, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench led by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana that the use of particular software is not a matter of public debate. The highest court has said it will pass an interim order on requests for an independent investigation into Pegasus’ alleged spy line. Read more

Congress will stand alone in the 2022 UP elections under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi

Top Congress leader Salman Khurshid has said the big old party will run in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of party secretary general Priyanka Gandhi. Khurshid, however, clarified that the face of the CM candidate was not yet decided. “We will fight the next Assembly elections under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She is working hard to make sure we win. Later she could announce the face of the CM,” he said. India’s retail price inflation slows further to 5.30% in August

Retail price inflation in August fell to 5.30%, remaining in the comfort zone of the Reserve Bank of India for a second month, government data showed on Monday. The RBI has been mandated by the government to keep retail inflation at 4% with a 2% margin on each side. Read more
